The Water Utilities Department for the City of Allegan is divided into the following departments: 

  • Drinking Water Plant
  • Potable Water Distribution 
  • Sewage Collection
  •  Water Resource Recovery

Drinking Water Plant

The Allegan Water Plant and Distribution System is committed to providing its customers with high quality, cost effective water for domestic, commercial and industrial use by treating and distributing the water produced at the treatment plant and pumping that water to our customers in the City, Township, and surrounding area in accordance with applicable local, state and federal requirements.

We commit to maintaining and improving the public health protection and performance of our water treatment plant and distribution system while minimizing the long term cost of operating those assts. We strive to make the most cost effective repairs and replacements of assets and provide the highest quality customer service possible.

Potable Water Distribution

Our Mission is to provide clean potable water for our community by proactively managing our water source, treatment, storage and distribution assets to meet our desired level of service goals.

The Allegan Waste Water and Septage Receiving Plant is committed to providing its customers with high quality, cost effective sanitary, industrial and septage waste services by collecting and treating all wastewater generated from the City, Township and surrounding areas in accordance with applicable local, state and federal permit requirements.

We commit to maintaining and improving the public health protection and performance of our wastewater plant while minimizing the long term cost of operating those assets. We strive to make the most cost effective repairs and replacements of assets and provide the highest quality customer service possible.

The following are documents related to recent PFAS testing on Allegan's water system. The letter includes a summary of the results, while the lab report elaborates on testing and data for a more complete explanation of certain contaminants in the Allegan water supply.
