Allegan GREEN Film Fest The Allegan Historic Farm & Learning Center will host a series of film screenings focusing on sustainability each Sunday in February. The Allegan Green Film Fest kicks off Feb. 5 at the Regent Theatre, 211 Trowbridge St. Films begin at 4 p.m. each Sunday and will be followed by discussion at 5:30 p.m. at Every Daze Sundae & Soda Shoppe, 212 Hubbard St. Film admission is free, but contributions for the center’s youth garden program will be accepted. The film schedule is: Feb. 5 “Kilowatt Ours” showcases how people, businesses and communities save money and help the environment through energy conservation and the use of “green” power. Feb. 12 “Blue Gold: World Water Wars” sounds sweeping alarms about the dwindling water supply, while examining the problems created by privitization and commoditization of water. Feb. 19 “Dirt! The Movie” tells the story of Earth’s most valuable and underappreciated source of fertility and brings to life the environmental, economic, social and political impact of soil. Feb. 26 “Fresh” celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across the U.S. who are reinventing the food system, forging healthier, sustainable alternatives to industrial models and offering a vision for the future.
