Elections

Annual Elections

The State of Michigan designates 4 times within the calendar year for elections: February; May; August andflag1 November. These elections would always be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday.

Polling Place
The polling place for all elections for the City of Allegan is located in the lower level of The Griswold Auditorium -

  • 401 Hubbard Street. Election hours are from 7:00 am - 8:00 pm.

Voter Registration
Michigan has a permanent registration system which continues the registration of any person once registered who has not moved out of the city. Residents may register to vote for federal, state, and local elections by mail; at your county, city or township clerk's office; or by visiting any Secretary of State branch office.

Absentee Voting
Absentee ballots for any election can be obtained from City Hall, and are generally available 45 days prior to the election. Registered voters are eligible to receive an absentee ballot if they expect to be absent from the City on Election Day; are physically unable to attend the polls; or are 60 years of age or older. An application for absentee ballot can be obtained by calling 269.673.5511 or stopping by Allegan City Hall.
